Unveiling the Writing Process: How ShearingHome Crafted Their Heartfelt Romance Stories

Writing is more than just putting words on a page, it's about putting our hearts and souls into each carefully thought-out chapter. Each writer (even the two ShearingHome writers) has a different process for creating compelling narratives that keep you turning page after page. The Writing Process

Many writers have different styles for approaching romantic love interests. Our approach has been to create unique situations where both would have an opportunity to meet. This makes for some pretty funny meet-cutes that are the beginning of something amazing.

As for how we put the pen to paper, so to speak, each story starts as a rather lengthy phone conversation between the two writers. Sometimes it's one sharing their idea with the other. Other times, they bounce crazy ideas off the wall to see what sticks. Oh to be a fly on the wall, huh? These conversations often end with lots of laughter and hastily written notes so the story makes its way from the airwaves to the actual page.

Next is where the writers really differ. D A is great about sitting in front of the computer, dutifully typing as fast as his fingers will allow. Sometimes this is four hours in front of the screen, sometimes it's more. Kelly — on the other hand — writes in short increments, sometimes only getting a page or two in during her writing sessions.

While both writers have their own approach when it comes to putting the time in, the end result is pretty fantastic. Below is more insight into the writing process for each series so far.

Perfect Series

The Perfect series kicked off with Jeni, already in a relationship, crossing paths with Jax. Their journey to be together was a rollercoaster ride filled with hurdles and challenges. This narrative choice was a deliberate reflection of the intricate nature of real-life relationships, where things are seldom straightforward.

Z-Inc Series

In the Z-Inc series, Z's instant attraction to Maria was met with hesitation due to their age difference. This struggle, inspired by real-life experiences, resonates with anyone who has grappled with societal expectations in their relationships.

As their daughter grew, their paths to love diverged. Neva’s story unfolded in a classic 'Beauty and the Beast' setting, while Zoey found herself in the wilderness, a place where she felt empowered and in control. It was a scenario that made her unexpected romance all the more intriguing.

ResQ'd One Series

The goal of the ResQ’d Series was to put people in dangerous situations and let them figure out if what they had was hero worship for saving them or their true feelings. With each story, the romance had risks. Do they take the risk for love, or lose the love of their life?
