So, What Inspired the Perfect Series?

From the mind of D.A. Shearing, discover what sparked the idea for the Perfect Series and what keeps it going. A journey in the literal sense, road trips with your own mind as your company makes the perfect storm for random bouts of inspiration—even if it makes getting those ideas down on paper at the moment a bit challenging.

Driving Makes for Miles upon Miles of Thinking

The idea for Jax and Jeni's story started on a long road trip from San Antonio, TX, to Tampa, FL. Being stuck in a U-Haul for hours upon hours by yourself gave D.A. ample time to ponder Jax and Jeni's story. D.A. had read hundreds of romance books already, so why not try to write one? As D.A. traveled back and forth a few more times between San Antonio and Tampa, landmarks along the way started to pop into D.A.'s mind. Pretty soon, a beginning, middle, and end were created and writing was officially begun.

What Keeps the Story Going?

Okay, so the first three books were the first big idea. Originally thought out as one book, enough details and drama kept on making their way into the story that it soon became a trilogy. As characters started to be incorporated into the story and D.A. got the chance to really get to know them, it was decided to explore some of these other characters and their love stories. Marc was such a big part in the first three books and was dealing with so much that it made sense to follow his story and give him the happy-ever-after that he so deserved.

In exploring each character, D.A. also got to thinking about the pilot who was involved in the mission, which really was the start of the relationship between Jax, Marc, and so many others. Thus, the Z-Inc series was born with its own set of characters and crazy action scenes. In this, the Perfect Universe and all the others became a reality that you get to explore today.

What Are The Plans for Jax, Jeni, and Everyone?

While Jax and Jeni and the characters from the first three books are likely to make their way into each of the series (including the Z-Inc series and other upcoming ones), each book explores new characters and backstories. We look forward to you getting to meet them all.
