Life—A Precarious Balancing Act

So, some of you may be wondering how I balance everything. Working (where I literally write all day), taking care of another human being, keeping up with the housework, maintaining some semblance of a social life, and writing for fun. How in the world do I fit it all in? Short answer. I don't. Long answer...well, it's obviously more detailed than that.

How do you approach your day-to-day?
Honestly? I don't do much planning when it comes to the daily grind. Sure, I have a general idea of what the day is going to hold—like I know I have to work, keep myself and another human being alive, and take that human being to school—but really, I don't plan much else. I guess you could say that I'm a live-in-the-moment type of person. This helps me keep what semblance of my sanity left and doesn't place these big expectations on my day. Does that make for days when I don't write a single word outside of work? Yup, I have plenty of those days. Those days usually involve me stepping away from the computer with disgust to where I don't put a single foot in the office until the next day.
So, when do you write?
As cliche as it sounds, I write when the creative juices decide to start flowing. It's usually pretty random days and sometimes it's mixed in between my short little breaks from work (shh...that's a secret between you and me now...wow, our first secret, how cute). Most of the time, however, it's in the quiet moments between my little human going to bed and me finally admitting defeat and going to bed myself. Or, during the times when my little human is at his dad's house, I sit down and hyper-focus for hours. But of course, like all writers, I also get random bits of inspiration in the middle of the night that need to get down on paper that instant, otherwise you forget your great plot twist or secret love affair the next day. I'm speaking from personal experience on that one.
When are we gonna get the next book then?
Okay, okay, enough of my random internal monologue. The next book. Well, the next one from me and D.A. Shearing is in the works and getting ready to make its way to your Kindle library soon.
